Support Insured
The National Association for Single and Divorced Families (NASDF) is proud to announce the launch of Support Insured, the first insurance product of its kind designed specifically to safeguard child support and alimony payments in the event of involuntary job loss, short-term disability, business bankruptcy or death.
Created in partnership with a leading insurance provider and available exclusively to NASDF members, this groundbreaking policy fills acritical gap in providing financial security for single and divorced families, ensuring that essential support for children continues, even when life takes an unexpected turn. Child support is typically covered with life insurance but with limitations to covered events and has not included alimony insurance. NASDF’s Support Insured is the only insurance that provides child support insurance and alimony insurance under one policy.
Why is this so important?
The two most influential reasons why someone stops paying their court-mandated child support or alimony payments are unemployment and disability. However, the only insurance offered when you get a divorce is some form of life insurance. Well, that only works if the payor dies, which is why we wanted to bridge the gap between death, disability, business bankruptcy and involuntary unemployment with Support Insured.
Why Payees Choose Support Insured
Support Insured is designed for anyone who receives child support and/or alimony payments, whether you’re divorced or have a co-parenting agreement but never married. And if the payor doesn’t want to pay for the insurance, the person receiving the maintenance payments can purchase it on their behalf.

Plus, you also get a discounted annual membership to the National Association for Single and Divorced Families. NASDF offers an umbrella of products, services, support, and resources that you need regardless of whether you're divorced or just have a single-family household.
Support Insured guarantees the court-mandated payments will continue, even when life takes an unexpected turn for the payor.
Enrollment is easy, simply go to www.NASDF.org and click on the “Support Insured” icon. You will see a question-and-answer section, rate chart – which is based on the payor's age and the amount of the court mandated settlement agreement - and an application. Once you’re accepted, you will immediately receive a Certificate of Coverage. It’s that easy.
Remember, if the payor doesn’t want to pay for the policy the payee can purchase it on behalf of the payor.
